Janice Anthes AKC Obedience & Rally Judge

It all started 40 years ago when Janice’s husband said if you want a dog you need to take it to school. So she and a Sheltie puppy named Misty trotted off to Sandia dog obedience club school and discovered the fun of training. Since then Janice has trained 7 dogs to the UD Title, including 3 Shetland Sheepdogs and 4 Flat-Coated Retrievers as well as a Golden Retriever to a CD who retired early for health reasons.  In the 1990’s during a lapse in having a dog to show, Janice discovered the joy of obedience judging and has been judging ever since.

Currently, Janice teaches obedience and agility judging2 classes for her local dog training club, Sandia Dog Obedience Club and judges all levels of AKC Obedience and Rally. She is currently training and showing a Flat-coated Retriever, Topper  (Jazz’d in Top Hat and Tails UD RAE AX AXJ XF) who just finished his UD.  Topper is also a therapy dog who frequently visits the Albuquerque airport as a Sunport Ambassadors.  She also has a Shetland Sheepdog, Rowdy  (Pineland’s Runs on the Wildside UD HIT RE OA OAJ OF THD), Rowdy is currently retired. To fill out the house, a new flat-coat puppy has joined the pack, Victory’s Up Up and Away, call him Buzz.

Janice was honored with the opportunity to judge AKC’s 2016 Classic Obedience dog show (part of AKC National Championship sponsored by Royal Canin) in Orlando Florida. It was a great experience and an awesome show.
